Hi, I’m Michelle Avigan, PhD
I love seeing the relief and joy when my couples feel safe enough to turn to each other when things get hard.
It is a privilege for me to walk alongside my clients in the vulnerable moments and see the spark in a relationship flicker back to life. I know what it’s like to have that pit in your stomach when your partner seems angry, disappointed, or far away.
I can help you identify patterns that get you stuck and learn how to get out of the negative cycle together.
You have what it takes to improve your relationship
We are wired from birth to connect—no special skills required! Using the roadmap of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), I can guide you towards a more secure, solid, and satisfying relationship.
If you’re ready to make some changes in your relationship, we can work together to tap into the built-in system you both already have inside that allows you to bond with each other again.
If you are motivated to have a better relationship, I have confidence that my skills can help you get there
I have extensive training in EFT as both a therapist and supervisor to other therapists who are learning the model. I am constantly steeping myself in teaching and training experiences to provide you with the best and most effective care possible.
My style is active and collaborative. I will be open and curious along the way to help us create the space in the therapy room that allows you both to grow and change.

How do we get started working with you?
Send me an email and let me know what you are looking for, include any logistics such as insurance or scheduling, and I will get back to you within two business days. I am happy to answer any questions you may have over email.
Once we have settled on a time for our first meeting, I will send you both all the information and forms you need to get started. Next, the three of us will meet to talk about how I might be helpful and how I work. If we all decide we want to proceed, I will schedule one individual interview with each member of the couple. This helps me start with an equally strong working relationship with both of you.
